How to Embed Excalidraw in Notion
Excalidraw is one of Notion's officially supported embeds, which makes it the quickest way to get a diagram onto a page without exporting an image. In Excalidraw, use Share to create a link, copy it, then type /embed in Notion and paste. The drawing renders in the block. How to embed Excalidraw in Notion
Create a share link in Excalidraw
Open the drawing and use the Share option to generate a shareable link. This exports a read-only copy of the scene as it stands right now, which is what Notion will display.
Copy the link
Copy the URL Excalidraw gives you. It carries the scene, so no export or file upload is involved. Note the date you created it, because that is the version your Notion page will keep showing.
Paste it into Notion
Type /embed on your Notion page, press Enter, paste the link, and click "Embed link". The drawing appears in the block.
Size it to the diagram
Drag the block wider for a horizontal flow and taller for a stacked one. Excalidraw scales the scene to the block, so a cramped block means unreadable labels.
Good to know
- Anyone with the share link can open the scene, so do not put anything confidential in a diagram you embed.
- The embedded copy is frozen at the moment you shared it. Edit the diagram later and the Notion page keeps showing the old version until you share and embed again.
- Small text in a large diagram becomes hard to read once the scene is scaled into a Notion block.
- The embed shows the whole scene, so stray objects far from the diagram will shrink everything else.
