Replace a widget link in Notion

Older widget links show a notice instead of the widget. Swapping one for a new link takes about a minute, and the new link is free with no account.

Get the new link

Open the page for your widget and press Copy embed URL. If you are not sure which widget you had, the notice in your Notion page links to the right page. You can also find it in the widget catalog.

Replace the embed

  1. Hover over the old embed. A handle appears at its left edge.
  2. Click the handle (⋮⋮), or open the ••• menu on the block.
  3. Choose Replace.
  4. Choose Embed link, paste the new URL, and confirm.

The widget loads straight away. Drag the handles to resize it.

Your widget settings

Widgets keep their settings in your browser, stored against the address they load from. If your old link started with widgetsfornotion.com, the new one loads from a different address, so the widget starts fresh: a timer's saved length, a counter's total, a habit tracker's history, a chosen time zone. Set it up once more after replacing it. Links that already started with embeds.widgetsfornotion.com keep everything.

If it does not load

Check that you pasted the whole URL. Paste it directly into the Embed link field rather than into a text block first, which can turn it into a plain link.

Notion's documentation on embed blocks covers the block menu in more detail.
